Hello! I’m Christine Tellez, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in Miami, FL.
I graduated in 2012 with my Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Florida International University (FIU) and completed an internship that gave me a wide range of experience in clinical, food service, and community dietetics.
I have over 10 years of experience in nutrition counseling and community/public health nutrition. I worked as the campus dietitian at FIU, providing nutrition counseling to students on campus through the Health Promotion Services department. During my time at FIU, I conducted research on food insecurity and helped start a campus food pantry, helped to start an eating disorder treatment team, organized large scale nutrition events, lead cooking demos, conducted presentations for students and staff and supervised nutrition students that were interested in volunteering with me.
Currently, I work part-time at a local Miami hospital as a clinical dietitian as well as in private practice.
My main area of focus is working with eating disorders/ disordered eating. I am also knowledgeable in GI issues like IBS and celiac disease, vegetarian/vegan nutrition, and adolescent nutrition. Finally, I have a special interest in pre-diabetes and diabetes management and am working towards becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator.
I believe that cultivating a healthy relationship with food and your body is essential to health. I incorporate evidenced-based nutrition practices with intuitive eating, creating a holistic approach to nutrition that explores the mind body connection. I especially enjoy working with low-income folks and people of color, who often don’t have access to quality healthcare.
I am a Miami Beach native and fluent in Spanish, and am proud of my Cuban and Nicaraguan roots.
When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my kids, reading fiction, going to the beach, drinking too much coffee, and reading dietitian/ food blogs.
